Special Events
New sports, new skills
Our campers love our range of special events throughout the year…

Cheerleading
We like to visit a cheerleading group to visit our St Piran’s camp, complete with pom poms!
In 2017, we enlisted the Mana squad, which is made up of 30 elite professional female dancers and gymnasts aged between 18 and 35, who sent two members of their team down to entertain our younger campers. The Mana team is the only dance group of any kind to have performed at all of the most iconic stadiums in the UK including: Twickenham, Wembley and London Olympic Stadium… and now Star Hotshots! This year, we’ll be inviting a local group to come and entertain the campers!

Paddleboarding
We like to get out on the water when the weather suits this year. Selected venues and dates – check our Facebook and Instagram for updates.
The equipment and coaching expertise is provided by Go With The Flo, a local tuition company who train people of all ages on the river. Taking groups of up to six at a time, the aim is to have all children standing, turning and going with the flow! GWTF provide inflatable boards, paddles and wetsuits if requested. Sessions are weather dependant.

Martial arts
Our martial arts sessions have been extremely popular. Ross Whitby is founder of the Martial Arts School and his wealth of experience enables him to offer high quality martial arts training to all ages and levels at our camps.
Ross started training in Kung Fu at the age of 12, so knows full well the influence it can have when practiced as a child. He began teaching others at the age of 16 and initially studied Kickboxing, Taekwondo and wrestling before learning both Japanese and Chinese Martial Arts to Instructor level.

Golf
Fore! Our campers at Moulsford loved getting in the swing of things thanks to the pros from Goring & Streatley Golf Club
Normally used to one-to-one coaching at Goring & Streatley Golf Club itself, the team come armed with plenty of golf clubs, tees and balls as they look to get our campers chipping the ball and learning a range of skills that may one down come in handy from tee to green. Could your child be the next Rory McIlroy?!

Street Dance
If your child wants to have fun learning street dance, then they’re in good hands!
Street Feet Dance is run by Cerys Vaughan, a dance confidence coach with oodles of experience and qualifications in primary education, she is an expert in dance education for children. Cerys and her team enable Star Hotshots campers to learn dance in a safe and friendly environment without the pressures of having to take part in shows, exams or competitions.

Circus Scene
Our circus skills workshops, provided by Circus Scene, have proved great fun for all ages. Suitable for children aged 6 upwards, they enable our campers to have a go, have fun, and learn something new in an informal setting.
Activities can include juggling (from scarves to beanbags and clubs), plate spinning, soft diabolos (safety tested and suitable for children), dancing styx, ribbon sticks, pedal go’s, stilts, unicycles and more! The circus workshops can be held indoors or out, but safety is a priority, with equipment used suitable for the groups involved.
Rollerskiing
Stephanie Cook – 2016 GB National Rollerski Champion and GB Rollerski Series Women’s Champion – brings her rollerskiing sessions to both camps this year.
Rollerskiing is the non-snow version of cross country skiing and helps to improve fitness, balance and coordination. Stephanie has been Rollerskiing/cross country skiing for almost 15 years. She used to train with the Finnish Junior National Coach alongside juniors who have since won Olympic medals.
The rollerskiing sessions are aimed at children aged 9+, and children will need to bring their own helmet.

Young Leader Award
The Young Leader Award is six-hour programme, which allows young people to lead teams of younger children with confidence and maturity.
It is a fun, practical and motivating way to teach leadership skills. And the best bit? It doesn’t cost you anything beyond the fee you pay already!
We use a range of games and activities, and follow the well-known STEP principle. STEP teaches young leaders how to make effective decisions about the Space, Task, Equipment and organisation of People.
There is also the opportunity for children to work on our Activity Holiday Camps for a day to develop their leadership skills in a practical setting.
Let them take the first step towards becoming a good leader in future situations.
The Young Leader Award is for children aged 11 and over, and delivered by Harvey Grout. Harvey is the founder of Star Hotshots and trains Reading University students on the primary and secondary degree courses on how to deliver Physical Education in schools.
Aspiring young leaders will learn:
- Leadership skills
- Decision making
- Organisational ability
- Transferrable skills

Holiday Camps
Fun, safe... flourish!
Are you looking for a well-designed choice of sports and creative activities and a reliable and professional environment for your children during the school holidays? Star Hotshots holiday camps are fun, energetic, creative and challenging enough to develop every child’s skills without overwhelming the less confident ones. We provide an amazing set of activities you children can enjoy with friends in an open and safe environment.

5 Year Olds
Energy, development and positivity
At 5 years old, children are full of curiosity and energy! Our active and creative camps are the perfect mix for those that want to either burn off energy with games and challenges or get creative and develop their fine motor skills. We give plenty of positive feedback as the children take part and there’s a real sense of excitement and motivation is high.
Whether your child loves to run, draw, swim, cook, play team sports or ball games, there’s something they’ll love. They’re likely to try some things for the first time, and will probably leave with a new-found love for a sport or activity!
- Push boundaries
- Improve fundamental skills
- Have fun
- Being active

6 – 7 Year Olds
Time to stretch their wings!
At 6 and 7 years old, your child can try new activities or work on sports and skills they already enjoy. Some personalities are better suited to individual sports, so we give them time to develop their skills and confidence alongside goal setting and strength. For others, team games can teach children how to work together, share, and form team structures.
If your child is drawn to creative activities such as art, cookery, drama, they will be able to express themselves and use our creative sessions to develop balance, creativity, imagination and flexibility.
- Self-confidence
- Independence
- New skills
- Imagination

8 – 10 Year Olds
Independence, choice… fun!
At 8, 9 and 10 years old your child will probably be keen to flex their independence. Personal choice is very important at this age and we give children every opportunity to use choice, decision making and personal responsibility through sport and creative activity. We respect the fact that it is their holiday while maintaining a safe environment and providing them with supervision and security.
PGA Golf Pro Ben O’Dell and GB American Footballer Peter Cleaver plus other professionals visit camp and run sessions to offer advice to the children and help develop their skills further.
- Decision-making
- Leadership
- Progress
- Achievement

11 – 14 Year Olds
Freedom in a challenging and stimulating environment
We respect that children at this age don’t want to be treated as kids, and we respect the concerns of parents and guardians who continue to want a safe and structured environment.
Your children will be treated like teens and given the right balance of freedom and boundaries. They will still follow a timetable of activities and there are also opportunities to go off site to participate in new activities. There is also an opportunity to get involved in the Young Leader Award, a free and fun way to learn new life skills.
- Improve talent whilst maintaining a balanced outlook
- Develop and excel at their favourite sport
- Explore their competitive nature whilst learning good sportsmanship
- Be given a personal plan for the future to maintain development
Five-star quality childcare
We are really proud of the reputation we have developed over the last 18 years plus. We have very high standards, and we do all we can to offer children a positive environment for them to enjoy playing sport and learning new skills amongst their friends.
Ultimately, our holiday camps are an enjoyable way for your child to be active, creative, play games and be with their friends during the school holidays. Our enthusiastic coaches use their experience to develop sports skills, as well as physical, social and creative skills, through games, activities and challenges, while also enabling children to learn new skills.
